The use of topical ozone has garnered interest within the dermatological and medical fields for its possible role in skin recovery and the healing of chronic wounds.
A scientific review published in the journal Enfermería Dermatológica analyzed clinical studies on the efficacy of topical ozone in chronic wounds, especially in diabetic foot ulcers and venous ulcers.
After reviewing research published over the past 20 years in international scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane Library, the authors concluded that there is favorable evidence regarding the healing effect of topical ozone, primarily in diabetic foot ulcers.
Scientific interest in this type of compound is related to its antimicrobial, purifying, and tissue oxygenation properties, which are relevant factors in skin maintenance and recovery.
Currently, ingredients such as ozonated olive oil —present in Ozolio products— are part of a new generation of cosmetic formulas aimed not only at hydrating but also at helping to maintain skin in better condition against environmental stress and irritation processes.
